    In Hertfordshire's Broxbourne Borough, lying within the Greater London Urban Area and London Metropolitan Area entirely is Cheshunt (/ˈtʃɛzənt/ CHEZ-ənt). To the east of Cheshunt passes Prime Meridian. In the arms of Cheshunt urban district council, it is commemorated. Cheshunt was the location of Cheshunt Railway in 1825.

    However, the plan was dropped and Cheshunt remained part of Hertfordshire, Cheshunt was planned to be merged in with the London Borough of Enfield. Cheshunt has access to the Lee Valley Park and it is in the Lea Valley. Tesco, whose head office was in Delamare Road, Cheshunt for years, used to be Cheshunt's best-known employer.     A fungicide developed at the Cheshunt Research Station, Cheshunt Compound was used by amateur and professional gardeners but, since November 2010, has been withdrawn from sale in the UK and it is no longer legal to use it. Part of the River Lee Country Park of (400 ha) 1,000 acres and the Cheshunt and Turnford Pits SSSI is formed by the area. Home to many businesses, the Old Pond area is in the centre of Cheshunt. At RAF Wendling, crashed near Cheshunt, next to Maxwells Farm, killing all the crew of ten, a Consolidated B-24 Liberator bomber from the United States AAF 392nd Bombardment Group (Heavy) at 8:00 am on 12 August 1944.

    Cheshunt in 2002 hosted the European BotCon convention that is officially licensed so far. Cheshunt was home to Unit 4 + 2, the band in 1965 whose "Concrete and Clay" song topped the charts of the UK and the best-known son is the pop singer Cliff Richard. When policing was taken over by Hertfordshire Constabulary, Metropolitan Police Service served Cheshunt until 2000. The headquarters of Tesco, the largest supermarket chain, was located here until 2016 and Lotus Cars as well as the Debenhams store chain's central headquarters were formerly in Cheshunt.

Including stations that are nearby of Waltham Cross, Theobalds Grove, Loughton (Central Line), and Turkey Street, Cheshunt Station is in the 8 Travelcard Zone. In the 1790s from Trevecca, Brecknockshire, non-conformist theological college Cheshunt College moved to Cheshunt. Playing in the Isthmian League Premier Division, Cheshunt has its football Club in Cheshunt F.C.
